Youth nominations wanted

Member for Peats, Ms Marie Andrews, is asking members of the Peninsula community to consider nominating young people for the National Australia Day Council’s Young Australian of the Year Awards for 2002.

Saver Account from the Commonwealth Bank plus a trophy.

The ultimate winner will be declared the NSW Young Achiever of the Year, and will receive a further $4000 from the Commonwealth Bank and a trip for two flying Qantas to any Australian capital city staying five nights at a Hilton Hotel.

All NSW category winners will go on to represent New South Wales in a National Awards Final, where seven national category winners will be selected.

These outstanding young people will share in a further $40,000 from the Commonwealth Bank and have the opportunity to be named as the Young Australian of the Year for 2002.

"These prestigious Awards are one way in which we can bring our talented young people before the local community.

"I urge everyone to consider who in our community deserves to be acknowledged for their contributions and nominate them," Ms Andrews said.

Nominations close on Friday, September 7, and nomination forms are available from Commonwealth Bank branches, website www.nadc.com.au or from the awards office on 02 9899 7251.
