Jetty proposed for Taj Mahal

Consideration of an application to build a 25-metre jetty at the Taj Mahal at Koolewong has been delayed for councillors to inspect the site.

Gosford Council.officers have recommended refusal of the application, saying the proposed development was not permissible under the provisions of DCP 119 (Wharves & Jetties).

In a report to council, they said it was also not permissible under the provisions of the Brisbane Water Plan of Management, which has statutory significance by reason of the provision of Clause 49 1(A) of the Gosford Planning Scheme Ordinance.

The report started that the proposed development, if approved, would establish an undesirable precedent for the area and was contrary to the public interest.
