Sports clubs urged to look for grants

Member for Peats, Ms Marie Andrews, has urged local sporting and recreation clubs to look at government and other grants that can help them and their members.

The information was available in a new booklet from the NSW Department of Sport and Recreation, "Get That Grant", she said.

Ms Andrews said the booklet was an exhaustive list of $15 million in funding that could benefit local groups.

"It has a one-stop shop to help groups find out where to get money for their physical activities," Ms Andrews said.

"The Department of Sport and Recreation’s offices throughout the state are continually inundated with requests from community groups keen to know how to get funding.

"Requests come from sport and recreation groups, local government and community groups," she said.

"The booklet lists more than 30 different funding sources, contains tips on how to write successful funding applications, and highlights the need to identify the most appropriate sources of funding for projects", she said.

The grants listed include NSW Sports and Recreation’s Capital Assistance and Regional Sports Facility Programs.

Other grants for youth, physical activity projects, community development and women’s health were also identified.

"Get That Grant" is available free of charge from your nearest NSW Sport and Recreation office or from the office of Marie Andrews, 20 Blackwall Rd, Woy Woy, or by phoning 4342 4122.
