Chamber welcomes new transport office

The Peninsula Chamber of Commerce has welcomed the announcement of the new roads and transport office at Woy Woy.

"This is a major demonstration of confidence by the State Government that Woy Woy can act as base for public service operations," said Chamber president Mr Matthew Wales.

"The new Transport and Roads Headquarters also confirms the State Government's commitment in seeing the F3 Freeway upgrading progressing as quickly as possible.

"With the Federal Government providing the construction funds, the Chamber is delighted to see the State Government acting quickly to establish a working team right here on the Peninsula."

Mr Wales said that the establishment of the new office fitted well with the Central Coast Moving Forward Strategy and the Peninsula Chamber’s own economic development project.

"We hope that this move by the Minister will see other Government departments relocating to the Peninsula.

"Woy Woy is ideally suited being a transport hub and having a range of commercial and IT service providers already established.

"As a result of the establishment of the transport team, the Chamber will be strongly urging the State Government to accelerate its review of the Peninsula planning controls and infrastructure so that public transport issues can be addressed quickly.

"We would assume that this move by the Government dovetails with the recent creation of the Living Centres Team at Gosford.

"This is obviously all good news and will see the business community actively supporting the Government's approach," he said.
