Councillor joins Mission Employment

Gosford Councillor Craig Doyle has taken up the position of Senior Employment Consultant at Mission Employment Ettalong.

Cr Doyle said: "Mission Ettalong has always been a very successful office, success ranked on people being placed, helped or assisted.

"Mission is successful because it is so broad.

"There are job-matching facilities, referrals, working with the homeless, Work for the Dole and refuge facilities for violent situations."

Centrelink statistics have shown that the Peninsula has disproportionate levels of unemployment, compared with the rest of the State, Cr Doyle said.

"At one end, we have disproportionate numbers of mature work-ready people who have trouble getting jobs, often due to the up-skilling of the workforce.

"At the other end, there's the youth, which for one reason or another, have no vocational opportunity.

"My role as an Intensive Assistance Marketer is to go out into the business community, market our clients to employers and establish what is keeping these people out of a job, then give assistance accordingly," Cr. Doyle said.
