Seat removal not warranted
Gosford Council workers removed two reasonably good seats from the grassed foreshore reserve at Ettalong Beach on Tuesday, August 7.
The two seats were the only ones of their type on the reserve, and were used by the public every day of the year, especially by elderly people, as the seats had backs for support, and also by people who come here to fish, as the seats were close to the water.
A coat of paint and the replacement of one slat would have restored both seats to brand new condition.
Their removal was not warranted.
Both seats, along with the concrete slabs they were standing on, were taken to the tip.
This is a complete waste of ratepayersÂ’ money.
Repairing the seats to new condition would have cost no more than $10.
Two new seats on concrete slabs will probably cost several hundred dollars.
The seats that were removed need to be replaced as soon as possible for the benefit of the community.
A seat with back, in reasonable condition, but with one slat missing, which was used extensively by people in the barbecue area on the Ettalong Beach foreshore reserve, was also removed by Gosford Council workers and taken to the tip.
This seat could have been restored too at very little cost.
