Graeme wins greenkeepers' singles

Everglades Bowling Club greenkeeper Graeme Maier won the NSW Greenkeepers’ Association singles and pairs recently after some coaxing from his mate, Phil Flippence.

Phil said he had persuaded Graeme to enter the championships with Maier duly beating Phil, a four times green keeper singles winner, 25-14.

Maier beat Bill Hopley 31-28 to win the singles final.

However, the tournament was not a complete loss for Phil, who teamed with Maier to win the doubles 20-13 against Tom Mulley and Bill Hopley.

The greenkeepers championships included a field of top players, with Steve Fairfull (East Maitland) a member of the NSW under-25 team, current NSW player Barry Benson and Byron Bay’s Michael Anderson.
