Why cut down the trees?

Why did the trees out the front of the Woy Woy Catholic church get cut down?

I did not see a problem with them.

Is this just another case of living in a concrete world?

If I was to ask the council to cut down a tree on my land, I have to go through a tough panel to be able to do this.

But the council can just go and cut down anything they like.

Mr Gary Chestnut from Gosford Council's Environment Department told Peninsula News that the council did not cut down the trees and did not have control over them, as they were camphor laurels which could be cut down without a permit.
