Charged over abduction
A man has been charged over the abduction of a 15-year-old girl at Empire Bay.
A teenage girl was walking along a trail in bushland at Empire Bay when she was approached by a male driving a utility at about 2.30pm on Sunday, March 2.
The man allegedly stopped the vehicle and grabbed the teenager, before tying her up.
She eventually managed to escape and, shortly before 7.45pm, motorists on Cullens Rd at Copacabana stopped to help the girl.
She was admitted to Gosford Hospital where she was treated for a number of cuts and abrasions.
Following inquiries, police arrested a 31-year-old Kincumber man at Gosford Police Station yesterday afternoon.
He was interviewed by Brisbane Water detectives before being charged with aggravated abduction with intent to obtain advantage, aggravated robbery, inflicting actual bodily harm with intent to have sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault and possession of a prohibited article-weapon.
