Bay quality among the lowest
Woy Woy Bay has been rated as having one of the lowest quality levels in the Gosford area, with only Erina Creek and Terrigal Lagoon scoring worse.
Gosford Council has been collecting water quality data for Brisbane Water, the four coastal lagoons and feeder creeks and has produced a map giving each area a star rating.
Council engaged consultants WBM Oceanics to review the historical data collected to date, and provide advice as to the current health of local waterways.
The consultants also provided advice and direction for future monitoring, and a guide to come up with a state of the art monitoring regime and a water quality index which can be reported on regularly.
Council is now seeking community input into that program, and is inviting people to a workshop.
Jennifer Ingall from councils' community liason office:
"Council is seeking community input into the program," said council's community liaison officer Ms Jennifer Ingall.
"People can get involved in this innovative project, and help us to determine the best way to protect the values of our aquatic ecosystems."
The workshops are to be held on Monday June 23, from 2 to 4pm or 6 to 8pm at the council chambers at 49 Mann St, Gosford.
Light refreshments will be provided.
Enquiries should be directed to Leah Smith on 4325 8912.
