Vicki Brooke
In my first term as member for Peats, I aim to bring the electorate to the forefront of NSW Government concerns.
I want a much better deal for the people of Peats so everyone can enjoy an improved quality of life and the benefits of this beautiful area.
I will work hard to stop the Government packing in an extra 10,000 people in the Peninsula.
My prime aim will be to stop development without supporting infrastructure, and my list of demands is long.
There are five main areas I will be working on at once:
Health: I hope to achieve a 24-hour accident and emergency section at Woy Woy Hospital and expand the number of general beds.
I will be working to improve the number of aged care beds, care and support for carers.
I aim to initiate home visits by doctors and nurses.
Transport: I will be working for a new rail crossing at Rawson Rd, the introduction of government buses with express commuter services, more community buses, better road surfaces, kerbs and gutters and better street lighting.
Education: Smaller classes in kinder - year 3 are close to achievable and with my colleagues I will ensure that we have smaller classes in all Peats schools and better opportunities for children who experience difficulties.
I will be pushing for urgent repairs and maintenance for all schools in Peats.
Work: I will be actively seeking opportunities for small businesses, non-polluting light to medium industry to employ people locally.
I will be pushing for work opportunities for young people.
Law and justice: Many criminal acts can be prevented through education and early intervention for young people and families in distress.
I am playing a very small part in helping a brilliant community initiative in Umina that aims to make life more meaningful for kids and their parents, to bring them together as functional families, with activities and meetings, information, holiday breaks for stressed parents.
Above all, I will spend time listening to the people of Peats, and in turn I want the opportunity to share my parliamentary life and the ways of State Government so we can work together for this wonderful community.
