Ambulance visits kindergarten classes
Woy Woy South Public School kindergarten classes have been visited by members of the NSW Ambulance Service.
The visit was part of a program "Helpers in Our Community" which aimed to introduce students to community services.
The demonstration was performed by Peter Wadeson who explained a number of facets of the ambulance service role.
It included a demonstration of some scenarios that people needing the ambulance may encounter, aided by an enthusiastic kindergarten volunteer.
The goal was to ensure children were as comfortable as possible should they, their friends or relatives require assistance from ambulance officers.
The program was designed to demonstrate to infants how various groups in the community assist us in our day-to-day life.
Deputy principal Mrs Kim Whealey said the whole experience was not only rewarding but entertaining for all present.
The school expects to have visits throughout the year by other community groups to demonstrate and educate the children about their roles.
