Drainage projects rank highly
A total of 13 Peninsula drainage projects at Woy Woy, Umina, Blackwall and Ettalong have been ranked highly by the NSW Floodplain Management Authority.
The authority has just concluded its annual conference in the City of Forbes, which included the ranking of hundreds of projects for State and Federal funding.
Gosford's team of Cr Chris Holstein, Cr Judith Penton, environment director Ms Louise Gee and flood and drainage manager Mr Vic Tysoe were successful in obtaining top ranking for 22 Gosford City projects, including the 13 Peninsula projects.
Cr Holstein said that securing the ranking was the first major step in getting the much-needed projects under way.
"Next is ensuring the government's commitment to the dollars," he said.
At the conference dinner on the last evening, Cr Holstein was formally recognised for his 12 years of service to the floodplain management authority, including his deputy chairmanship for the last four years.
