Probus Club meets
The Umina-Peninsula Probus Club is a new club in the Peninsula area, holding its first meeting at Everglades country club on Thursday, January 23.
The club has 45 members, a mixed membership consisting of couples and individual men and women.
The club is an association of semi-retired people who join together to provide opportunities to keep their minds active, expand their interests and enjoy the fellowship of new friends.
All clubs are sponsored by Rotary clubs, but they are self-governing, free from the constraints and obligations of service clubs.
Activities include a monthly meeting and various outings such as theatre, social or sporting occasions.
Monthly meetings consist of a club business session, coffee break followed by a guest speaker or discussion of mutual interest.
Clubs are non-political and non-sectarian, non-profit and non-fundraising.
Meetings are held at Everglades Country Club on the fourth Thursday of every month.
