Clean-up day to be held at reserve

Burrawang Bushland Reserve Bush-Care group is hosting a clean-up day as part of the upcoming Clean-Up Australia Day held on Sunday, March 2.

Since last year's clean-up, the bush-care group has been busy and has made a significant improvement to the reserve with a continuing weeding program, rubbish removal and bush regeneration.

"The group has received some very pleasing comments from users of the reserve," said group member Mr Jim Morrison.

"This year there will be a planting program implemented that will further assist in turning the reserve into a showpiece.

"While there has been a significant reduction in illegal dumping in the reserve since vehicular access was restricted last year, dumping of rubbish is still a problem.

"Removal of this rubbish is the aim of the clean-up day," said Mr Morrison.

The Bush-Care group is seeking the assistance of residents to support them in its endeavors on the day.

It is expected that the clean-up will be for four or five hours atarting at 9am for registration followed by a pre-clean-up briefing.

"If you can help, please do," said Mr Morrison.

"If you can only spend an hour or two with us, it will be appreciated."

The meeting place will be the Nambucca Dr playground, Woy Woy, adjacent to the Reserve at 9am on Sunday, March 2.

Those attending are asked to wear suitable clothing, including sturdy shoes, a hat, and sunscreen. A responsible adult must accompany children.

"They may also like to bring a picnic lunch," said Mr Morrison.
