Meeting addresses bush management

A meeting about environmental management on the Peninsula was attended by more than 30 people on Wednesday, February 5.

The meeting was held at the Peninsula Environment Centre in Blackwall Rd, Woy Woy.

The focus of the meeting was to identify issues experienced by Peninsula bush care groups, and suggest collaborative actions to resolve them.

Meeting participants included members of the Peninsula's Council-affiliated bushcare groups, as well as others from groups outside the Peninsula.

Central Coast environment groups were represented, and Cr Chris Holstein also attended.

There was acknowledgement that collectively the groups were in a better position to negotiate changes in management practices with Gosford Council.

For example, one suggested solution to the problem of council work crews damaging reserves was for council to have a dedicated bush work crew to work on bushland reserves.

Because of the number of issues raised and discussion generated, another meeting will be held in a fortnight to draw up action strategies. It will be held at 6pm on Wednesday, February 19, at the Environment Centre.

A group of five were nominated to collate the issues and strategies suggested at the meeting and provide a framework for the next meeting.
