Flyer stop is good news

When news came out in Woy Woy's local paper (Peninsula News, January 28) that Newcastle Flyer service stops at Woy Woy station, this is indeed good news, not only to commuters, but also to many Australians.

After Bali, Australian travel views have been altered to a certain degree.

Besides, why go overseas for a holiday when New South Wales Central Coast has scenic places to explore?

With a defined schedule of the Newcastle Flyer to stop at Woy Woy at 7:30am Monday to Friday, then to arrive on time at Sydney Central station at 8:48am, those looking for jobs or simply excitement watching the scenery along the way would find it easy to "jump in".

Woy Woy residents would surely be benefited: business people, senior citizens and young people.

Also, Woy Woy with easy train transport would attract more tourists, more business activities that accompany tourism.

The town of Woy Woy, in earlier days, has been the place of "escape" from the hub of city life.

It has a history of placid surroundings, a welcome smile from the locals to strangers in town.

Where we are now staying at Farnell St near the inlet lake, the water is clean, the evening breeze is pleasant, and the pelicans are flying, gliding above us.

The Pelican Island is their sanctuary, and to see them and their babies at close range one must hire a boat, so we were told.

Scenic Woy Woy area, with Ms Marie Andrews as Peats MP, representative to the NSW Government, has her to thank for her effort to talk Transport Minister Carl Scully into giving Woy Woy the much-needed train.
