Music teacher organises anti-war petition

Local music teacher Ms Zaga Peshich has petitions in Peninsula businesses that people can sign if they feel that diplomatic action is better than war against Iraq.

Zaga who has lived on the Peninsula for 13 years said she was "personally against war".

She said that the use of a petition was a peaceful means of showing concern.

"The petition is against America using unilateral action against Iraq without UN approval," she said.

The petition could be signed at Bremen Patisserie in Umina, Red Saffire coffee shop or Mediterranean Seafood and Chicken in Ettalong, or at Watersedge Gifts and Souvenirs in Woy Woy.

The manager of Watersedge, Mrs Joan Chippendale, said: "I rang the Prime Minister's office in Canberra and they took her concerns seriously asking me to send a fax.

"They also said the Prime Minister looks at all the concerns that come to his office."

Ms Peshich said: "I will be taking the petition to the Federal Member for Robertson, Mr Jim Lloyd, towards the end of the month."
