Gaming laws change club practice

The government's recent change to the gaming legislation has led Ettalong Memorial Club to look at new ways to support local non-profit groups.

The club is to introduce regular trivia nights, each of which will be dedicated to a fundraising group, such as surf clubs, schools and emergency services.

Groups are encouraged to register their interest in participating in the program.

The nights willl offer group members a fund-raising activity for a special goal and the opportunity to show off their IQs as they tackle questions in general knowledge, music, geography, movies and other topics.

The recent tragic spate of bushfires highlighted the work carried out by firefighters.

Many of the local brigades, who are made up of volunteers, rely on organisations such as the Ettalong Beach Club for financial assistance to ensure their vital work can continue

Teams of six can register by phoning the club on 4341 1166 or pick up an entry form at reception.

Entry is $20 per player, payable at reception and includes light snacks.
