Club refurbishment completed
Woy Woy Bowling Club has just completed its most ambitious refurbishment in its 70-year history.
The renovation included new locker rooms, a new Island bar, a new bistro service area and a new exterior.
The club is now open for meals and drinks, entertainment every Sunday between 4pm and 8pm and shows once a month in a new auditorium.
The club claims to be "the best positioned club on the Peninsula with an absolutely fabulous outlook over Paddy's Channel".
The club also boasts to be the first club with a synthetic bowling green on the Peninsula.
The synthetic surface has proved to be popular with both Woy Woy members and visiting bowlers alike, according to club secretary-manager Mr Warwick Smith.
The club will be installing a TAB outlet to commence operations in late June, he said.
Along with Keno, poker machines, free jukebox, seafood raffles, meat markets, free raffles and cash housie (to aid the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service from Wednesday, June 13), an extensive bowls program caters for mens', ladies', mixed and mufti bowls.
The club claims the bistro, with its new outlook, new menus, video games for the kids and competitively-priced lunches and dinners, is amongst the best on the Coast.
With the renovations completed, the club is promoting itself as a function venue.
Mr Smith said: "The board of the club has shown great foresight and has endeavoured with these renovations to cater for the needs of a great variety of tastes and areas of enjoyment, not only for the present, but far into the future as well.
"The full glass aspect of the club has opened up our greatest asset, the views of the channel, and will provide many hours of relaxing pleasure for our members and their guests.
Chairman Mr John Gardner said that the new entertainment format provided shows every Sunday afternoon, with special shows monthly.
"It should prove popular with the members who like live entertainment.
"The free jukebox is already a hit.
"If you are not a member, why not join and become part of the friendly crowd at Woy Woy Bowling Club."
