RSPCA calls for donations

Donations of furniture and bric-a-brac are needed by the RSPCA shop in the Boulevarde Arcade at Woy Woy.

All proceeds from this shop go towards the running of the animal shelter in Somersby and the general welfare of the animals on the Central Coast.

Proceeds from this shop enable the Central Coast RSPCA to help animals such as those who are victims of cruelty.

Monica, a three year old cross staffy, was one such victim and was extremely timid when she first arrived at the Central Coast RSPCA.

However the RSPCA gave Monica lots of care and attention and nurtured her back to health and was placed in a home with a family on the Peninsula.

"Our shop is always in need of donations of furniture and bric-a-brac," said Val Hampson from the Central Coast RSPCA.

"Pick-up can be arranged.

"We are also in need of more volunteers to work on an occasional day when sickness or holidays leave us short," she said.

On Sunday, May 20, the RSPCA will be holding its "Million Paws Walk" at Gosford Sailing Club.

"This is one of our major events of the year with several thousand dollars being raised for the welfare and emergency treatment of injured animals of all types," said Ms Hampson.

At 9am, those who wish to participate in the walk can check in and give their animal a vet check.

The walk will begin at 10am.
