Woy Woy plays in touch football
Woy Woy High Schools Open Girls touch football team travelled to The Entrance High for the second round encounter on Friday, April 6.
The Woy Woy girls were in high spirits as they started the game strongly.
The first try was scored against Woy Woy, but the girls bounced back with an intercept try scored by Emily Johnstone.
The girls efforts in the first half were exceptional, with Woy Woy attempting different moves and many dives for the try line.
The score at half time was one-all.
Woy Woys sportsmanship was put to the test in dealing with the Entrance's unsporting behaviour.
This became a major distraction for Woy Woy and the girls were brought down in the second half.
Woy Woy played well in all aspects of the game, especially under the circumstances.
The team consisted of Aly Wheatland, Kate Bloor, Kim Honan, Emily Johnstone, Holly Johnstone, Susan Sobczak, Lorrie Russell, Heidi Robertson, Lauren Samsely and Megan Tower.
The under-15 girls touch team from Woy Woy High travelled to Adcock Park to play in the NSW Touch Associations All Schools competition.
The Woy Woy High girls started slowly against Kincumber although improved their play dramatically to be a competitive team during the day.
In the pool, Woy Woy finished second overall behind Kincumber.
In the finals, after a hard day of play, the heat became too much for the girls.
Woy Woy eventually finished fourth out of the 10 schools entered.
Emily Johnstone made outstanding intercepts and great play was shown by Holly Johnstone, Madison Hahn-Bainbridge and Heidi Robertson.
The team was Holly Johnstone, Carly Brent, Emily Johnstone, Lauren Samsely, Heidi Robertson, Ashleigh Williams, Chris Briones, Michelle Dodds, Madison Hahn-Bainbridge and Jaclyn Collins.
Ben Crowson and Dean Simonson were thanked for giving their time to referee the games on the day.
