Probationary constables allocated

The Woy Woy Peninsula will benefit from the allocation of police probationary constables to the Brisbane Waters Local Area Command, according to Member for Peats Ms Marie Andrews..

Seven of these constables were sworn in on May 4 and allocated to the Peats area.

A total of 282 new constables were also sworn in at the NSW Police Academy at Goulburn in a ceremony attended by Minister for Police, Mr Paul Whelan, and Acting Commissioner, Mr Ken Moroney.

Ms Andrews welcomed the boost to the local police presence as "the Carr Government’s commitment to make NSW safer for all".

"The probationary constables will be an asset to Brisbane Waters Local Area Command, which includes the Woy Woy Peninsula, bringing enthusiasm and a high degree of training and professionalism," said Ms Andrews.

"I am sure they will make a valuable contribution to the local community," she said.

Mr Whelan said the new officers meant the Carr Government was on track to put 2110 police back on the front-line by December 2003.
