Open day for new bowlers

Woy Woy Bowling Club is inviting new and prospective bowlers to its open day.

Those interested will have the opportunity of receiving free coaching by accredited coaches on Saturday, November 25, from 9am to 12.30pm.

All men, women and children over 16 years old are welcome to this free introductory bowls morning which will include a sausage sizzle lunch.

In other bowls news, Woy Woy Bowling Club's mixed pair championships ended with the final being played late last month.

The final went to Ilma Manuel and Paul Harkins, 26 over Marg Smith and Ron Conway, 19.

It was Ilma and Paul's second consecutive championship performance.

The semi-finals saw Ilma and Paul beat Barbara Champion and Jim Rochester 20-17 and Marg and Ron defeat Audrey and Gordon Armstrong 21-13.

In the annual Challenge Trophy, a tight contest saw the Woy Woy Leagues Club team beat Woy Woy Bowling Club.

The Leagues Club team were led by Phil Marley.

An upcoming event is the Woy Woy Night Maestro Triples, which will take place from February 26 to March 9.

Total prize money will be $4800 and entries close February 2.

Cost is $30 per team.
