Cats want peaceful New Year

The Central Coast Cat Care has written to both Gosford and Wyong Councils imploring them to make these New Year's Eve celebrations "Animal-Friendly".

In the aftermath of last New Year's Eve festivities with its numerous fireworks displays around the Central Coast, Cat Care along with other animal welfare groups had the arduous task of collecting, and returning to their homes, countless cats and dogs.

These poor, unfortunate creatures were scared witless by the booming, blaring noise of fireworks and had escaped, through sheer panic, from their confines.

Cat Care is hopeful that the Councils and the public will consider activities that can be entertaining yet peaceful to our domestic pets and also the abundant wildlife living near and around our homes.

We look forward to an enjoyable yet considerate New Year's Eve.
