Pennant trials at Everglades

Everglades Bowling Club is holding pennant trials for the season which starts in February.

The club has suffered some loss of older and experienced players but is confident the standard will be maintained following the influx of a number of new members all of whom are showing promise at the trials.

After lengthy negotiations with zone officials, Everglades has been saved from relegation and now retains a position in the prestigious Number 1 Pennant.

Everglades will also field teams in Pennants 3, 5 and 7.

Club officials say they are looking forward to good results in all grades.

The club mixed fours championship has been won by Bev Archer, Merle Thomson, Bill Thomson and Alan Breakwell over Joyce Waite, Gwen Hewson, Glenn Hewson and Ted Hewson by 27 to 21.

The mixed pairs final between Dot Porter and Ray Mason against Gwen Hewson and Ted Hewson will finish the championship events for the year.
