All invited to community centre opening
The official opening of the Umina Uniting Church's community centre will be held on Sunday, December 17, and all are invited.
Following a brief ceremony in Neptune Street at 3pm, there will be a short thanksgiving service in the church.
Guest speaker will be the Rev. Dr. Don Evans of Niagara Park, a former Moderator of the NSW Uniting Church and currently minister for the Churchs Ku-ring-gai Presbytery.
A celebratory afternoon tea will be held in the new building and at 5pm the Peninsula Choir will present its Christmas Cantata in the church.
"Despite some hold-ups with wet weather, the contractor Bruce McKenzie and his team of tradesmen are making good progress," said the church's minister, the Rev Bruce Edgell.
"The people of the church are looking forward to planning their 2001 activities for the new building, which is joined to the present church and will provide a range of facilities all under one roof."
For any inquiries about the opening or about the building, phone the Church Office on 4341 8536, or Rev. Bruce Edgell on 4341 1024.
