Lifeline opens Umina store

Lifeline has recently opened a recycled clothing store on West St, Umina, in the old Fairhaven Shop.

Lifeline Central Coast (NSW) has been operating since 1981.

Lifeline is a 24-hour seven-day-a-week crisis telephone counselling service, staffed by trained volunteers.

Other services offered by Lifeline are the Youth Suicide Help line, Care-ring for lonely and isolated folk, a bereaved by Suicide support group and a referral service.

Funds raised through the shop go towards maintaining the service, which takes 11,000 calls a year.

The calls vary from loneliness to domestic violence, threatened suicide, grief and loss, according to Lifeline director, Lesley West.

"Men and women phone as do young people and concerned family members on the suicide help line."

Anyone wishing to volunteer can do so by phoning Jane Stewart-Kemble on 4324 4555 Monday to Friday 8am-3pm.
