Petition for more police

A petition is being circulated on the Peninsula requesting a greater police presence.

The petition is addressed to local area commander, Mr Kevin Curry, and says the petitioners are worried about the amount of drug-dealing and drug-taking in the area.

The petition also raises concerns about "the alarming rise in burglary rates both in homes and commercial premises".

The petitioners say they would like beat police and trained drug officers to regularly patrol the area to protect people and property.

Copies of the petition can be found at the office of the Member for Peats, Ms Marie Andrews, in Blackwall Rd, at local chemists and at Fisherman's Wharf.
