Concern for pedestrians

Woy Woy Public School student James Luke, representing the student parliament, has expressed concern at the fact that students and parents are still using the old pedestrian crossing on Park Rd.

The new Park Rd crossing is outside the school office and should be used by parents and children before and after school.

This view was supported by school principal, Mr Warrick Hannon, who said "We understand that parking is extremely difficult around 8:45am and 3pm. However, some parents park dangerously in no-stopping zones in and around the pedestrian crossing.

In addition to double parking and driving into the school car park and driveway, this makes for a very unsafe situation for our students.

"I have been advised that the police will be conducting random checks of our school in the mornings and afternoons and will issue fines for illegal parking," he said.
