P&C meeting proceeds
A rescheduled Parents and Citizens (P&C) meeting was held at Empire Bay Public School on May 15.
Parents were very interested to hear Mr Teasdale outline the new Health-Personnel Development and Physical Education (PH&HPE) syllabus being implemented at the school.
He also outlined the peer support program which will be run in term four and the benefits it brings to all students.
The paver project continues to gather momentum and the P&C has agreed to assist the school with funds to provide seating for the students under the shade cloth shelter closest to the Library.
It is hoped that this will prevent the need for children to sit on the wet damp concrete.
Another issue discussed at the meeting was the misuse by a small number of adults of the limited parking spaces outside the school.
It was commented that at times it was frightening to watch parents back out of the bus bay, park for long periods of time in the areas designated for drop-off and pick-up or speed through the 40 kph zone.
These behaviours continue to put the safety of students at risk and create havoc for the other parents who are trying to do the right thing, the meeting was told.
The principal agreed, as a last resort, to approach Gosford police and ask that they patrol the area outside the school to ensure that motorists act according to the law.
The principal has pleaded for all parents to consider the welfare of students and abide by the traffic laws.
