Nominations open for business awards
The nomination process has started this week for the Peninsula Chamber of Commerce Business Awards 2000.
Nomination forms are being distributed to all businesses on the Peninsula in the start-up for the prestigious awards.
"Shoppers can nominate any business on the Peninsula by simply filling in the nomination form and returning it to the place of business," said Peninsula Mainstreet Co-ordinator Cr Debra Wales.
Alternatively, the nomination form can be posted to the Mainstreet office. A business can also be nominated by phoning the Mainstreet office and registering the business name.
"Once a business has been nominated, an assessment form will be forwarded to that business to be completed and returned before June 30 for a judging panel to assess the nomination," said Cr Wales.
"In addition, there are 'phantom' shoppers who are looking for finalists for the Excellence in Service Award.
"They will be looking for courtesy, attitude, grooming, product knowledge and overall service.
"All nomination forms will go into a barrel on the gala presentation night and a winner will be drawn for the weekend away for two staying at Darling Harbour courtesy of Tony Arico Traveland Deepwater Plaza.
"The winners of each category and the winner of the Business of the Year Award will be announced at the Gala Awards Night on Friday, July 21, at the Ettalong Beach Memorial Club.
"This is a spectacular night with dining, dancing and entertainment."
Tickets are $55 per head and bookings can be made by phoning 4342 7510.
Cr Wales said that this event was a great opportunity for the Peninsula business community to showcase their businesses and products to both the Peninsula and the Central Coast.
"This is also a great way for the local community to support the business community on the Peninsula".
"Last year at the gala presentation dinner, the Business of the Year award was presented to Bob and Jill Gow from The Bedman of Umina Beach to a huge audience of 320 people.
"This year the competition will be tough.
"The are many businesses who have made considerable improvements and also a number of new businesses who have opened over the past 12 months.
"This is one of the Chambers big events for the year and we encourage everyone to participate by placing nominations and booking early for the gala event."
