Ten medals for judo

Woy Woy Judo Club won 10 medals and a trophy for individual performance at the RSL Youth Judo Tournament held at St. Mary's on Sunday, April 2.

First-time competitors in the Novice Division for under-10 year olds, Chad Davis, Graydon Gorst, Megan Gorst and Owen Jennings all received gold medals, with the performance of Owen in the under-35 kg division receiving special mention.

The under-13s saw another member of the Gorst family, Kerrod, rewarded with gold, while Michael Ahearn received silver and Kristy Travers bronze.

In the under-16s. Ben Boyd obtained gold and Daniel Simmons silver.

Drew Evans lost his initial fight in the Young Men's Division, yet recovered to win his second bout and was rewarded with a bronze medal.

The overall efforts of Brendan Cole in 1999 were recognised with a trophy for outstanding play.
