Lifesavers define responsibilities

Council lifesavers and the Umina Surf Club are seeking to lessen friction between them by formalising each other's responsibilities with a written agreement.

Council lifesavers and the surf clubs share equipment.

Apparently over the Christmas period, the lights were left on in a Council vehicle garaged at Umina Surf Club and the battery went flat.

The NRMA was called and a disagreement arose over who should pay for the service call.

There was also a disagreement on who should pay for mobile phone calls during this period.

Councillors are understood to want to support both groups and are encouraging a more formal working relationship.
