Petitions gain 409 signatures

Council has received six petitions with a total of 409 signatures on matters pertaining to the Peninsula.

Concerns have been voiced by 142 residents from Patonga Beach over a proposal for a tavern.

The petitioners said that they objected to the proposal as they believed there was a lack of parking in the area, inadequate public transport, and a lack of drive-through facilities. They also said that the tavern did not provide accommodation on site, and that dual occupancy would be created in contradiction to planning for Patonga village.

The petitioners urged council to relocate the tavern to a better and safer location.
