Preece urges Pearl Beach DCP

Cr Geoff Preece has asked fellow councillors to agree to the preparation of a development control plan (DCP) based on a draft prepared by the Pearl Beach Progress Association.

"The association has spent many hours and dollars developing a draft DCP for their area," Cr Preece said.

"There appears to be great support through the Pearl Beach community for advancing the draft to full implementation."

Cr Preece said the association was aware of the usual process but felt "it may take a great deal of time until it comes to fruition".

"They feel they have done enough work and consultation with the community to justify the furthering of their draft in a much shorter time frame," he said.

"They also feel they have the support of a large majority of the community and are willing to put their draft to the final test.

"There is an expectation that there will be objections from sections of the Pearl Beach community."
