Moves on bullying

New anti-bullying procedures will be introduced at Woy Woy High School from this week.

Students will have the opportunity to place the names of any bullies or victims of bullies into boxes, one in the front office and one in the library.

These will be cleared each day by one of the school's welfare teachers.

Teachers are also expected to be vigilant and to take quick action to nip in the bud any bullying behaviour that occurs in the classroom and the playground.

They will also be expected to report this to head welfare teacher Ms Murphy.

Students will be interviewed and follow-up action will take place.

The emphasis will be on mediation and supporting students to learn not to use bullying behaviour.

Records of instances will be kept so that follow-up action can be co-ordinated effectively.
