Awards for accessible business
Gosford Council will contribute $1500 towards the Accessible Business Awards as part of the International Day of People with Disabilities on December 3.
Disability Awareness Week runs from November 27 to December 3.
Awareness Week is designed to educate the public about disability issues, challenge negative stereotypes and create positive images of disability.
Local businesses working to achieve access for people with disabilities to their premises, will be eligible for nomination for prizes recognising their contribution.
Prizes will be awarded for service and access.
The judging panel will consist of Cr Judith Penton, a person with a disability, an occupational therapist and a community development representative.
The awards will be presented in the Council chambers on December 1 by the mayor, Cr Chris Holstein.
