Bushwalk around Umina Heights

The National Parks and Wildlife Service will hold a half-day bushwalk around the back of Umina Heights on November 18.

The walk, as part of the Service's Discovery program, will be led by a guide and starts at 9.20am, finishing at 3.30pm.

The walk will be a circular one within the Brisbane Water National Park and behind Umina Heights.

According to National Parks the walk will take in "spectacular 360 degree views of the Central Coast region and explore the massive Hawkesbury River sandstone shelf areas abounding this fascinating location."

There will also be a significant Aboriginal site to view along the way.

The walk will suit adults and children above the age of 12 and costs $11 for adults and $5.50 for children.

The walk is mostly on tracks, although walkers should expect some bush scrambling and climbing.

Walkers should bring snacks, lunch, drinks, water, sturdy walk shoes and sun protection.

The walk is recommended for people who regularly exercise.

Some steps and hills may be encountered.

Bookings are essential on telephone 4320 4205 Monday to Friday in business hours.

The Discovery program is designed to show communities the wealth of cultural and environmental heritage available within the Central Coast region.

The program runs all year round, mainly on weekends and school holidays.

National Parks and Wildlife will also design an activity for groups on request.

For more information on the full range of activities available through the program telephone 4320 4205.
