Umina appeal defended

Council will defend itself in the Land and Environment Court at an approximate cost of $25,000 in an appeal against its refusal of a three-unit flat building development application in Umina Beach.

Council refused the application for an Esplanade residential development earlier this year saying the proposal was an over-development of the site.

Council officers said the proposed development failed to comply with Council requirements and would result in development inconsistent in scale, density and height with nearby residences.

Council also refused the application on the grounds that the development would cause a loss of privacy for neighbours.
