Multicultural brunch to have festive theme

A multicultural brunch with a festive theme will be held at the Peninsula Community Centre on Thursday, December 11, between 10.30am and 12.30pm.

Peninsula residents from culturally diverse backgrounds are invited to come together and celebrate their uniqueness and differences as part of the lead up to Christmas.

The day is open to all, and is being organised by the Central Coast Multicultural Project.

Anyone wishing to attend is encouraged to bring a plate of festive fare from their country of origin and there will be discussion about the way Christmas is celebrated in other countries.

Project worker Ms Edna Wacher said that Gosford Council's profile on the Woy Woy Peninsula revealed that 3.6 per cent of its population is from culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

"Yet it seems that services on the Peninsula are unlikely to have such people accessing their programs," she said.

The multi-cultural project would establish a regular outreach service on the Peninsula.

The aim was to bring together culturally diverse residents for discussion and support and establish a social-recreational group.

It also aimed to provide a regular opportunity for people to contact a professional case worker to deal with any problems they may be experiencing or direct them to services that can provide assistance.

Inquiries should be directed to Edna on 4323 7483.
