School holds dance-a-thon

Empire Bay Public School held a dance-a-thon on Wednesday, November 5, in the school hall.

Students were sponsored to dance for the event with prizes as incentives for amounts raised.

"There seems to be a lot of energy put into getting sponsors and most students have aimed their fundraising at earning a particular item from the prize list," according to principal Mr Gordon Fraser.

The money raised will go towards purchasing a new reading scheme, Bookweb.

The scheme costs over $8000 with the school being given $5000 from the P and C

"Bookweb is a fantastic reading scheme, which is rich in factual texts, is current and highly relevant to the world of today's students," Mr Fraser said.
