School to pilot spelling test
Woy Woy South Public School has volunteered to be a pilot school for the inaugural Australian Schools spelling assessment.
The assessment is being trialed to become part of the Australian Schools Competitions, which now include maths, English, writing, computer studies and science for students in Year 3 to Year 6.
Over half a million students participate in the competitions that test skills and knowledge in a competitive forum.
This year Woy Woy South as achieved six high distinctions, 20 distinctions, 58 credits and 12 achievements.
Aurora Steel from Year 4 gained the highest score in NSW in the Australian Schools English Competition and was awarded a gold medal.
