Reconciliation films shown

Peninsula residents are involved in organising and conducting a series of Cultural Awareness and Reconciliation Family Films to be held on Saturday, November 29

Denise Markham of Umina is providing art materials so that people can participate in a cultural activity during the break between the films.

Denise said that everyone was welcome, attendance was free and afternoon tea would be provided.

"TAFE held a cultural awareness course on the Peninsula earlier this year that was well-attended, so people are interested in learning more about indigenous heritage and culture.

"This film series is another chance to learn with families and friends," Denise said.

It is a response by Darkinjung Aboriginal Land Council to its successful weekend camps held this year.

The film series provides a positive way for Indigenous people to socialise with their families, and it enables all community members to find out more about indigenous heritage and culture.

The films will be shown from 2 to 5pm at the Anglican Church, Mann St Gosford.

It is hoped that one of the future film sessions in the series will be held on the Peninsula.

For bookings and with inquiries, phone Jan Anderson of the Central Coast Reconciliation Group on 4372 1892 or Denise Markham at TAFE on 4348 2286.
