School joins in online launch

Students from The Coast Christian School at Bensville participated in the launch of an education online game on Thursday, September 25.

Net Detectives is a game played over the internet, designed to help Australian children learn how to chat safely on the internet.

The Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, Senator Richard Alston, formally launched the initiative in Ultimo.

The activity ran from 9.30am to 11.30am.

The key messages of Net Detectives are that parents should monitor their children's use of the Internet, particularly chat rooms; children should never give out personal information when they're chatting online and if children want to meet face-to-face someone that they have chatted with, they should always take a parent with them.
