Intersection priority changes

Gosford Council has endorsed a traffic committee recommendation to change permanently the right of way at the intersection of Memorial Ave and Bourke Rd.

Traffic exiting Bourke Rd will have the right of way, in line with the Ettalong Beach Local Area Traffic Management Scheme (LATMS).

It was resolved that the need for improvements to enhance the change of priority, edgelines and raised pavement markers will be provided in Memorial Ave to improve delineation approaching the intersection

The traffic committee had been advised that council favours a return to the original configuration of the intersection where Memorial Ave traffic had the right of way.

The Ettalong Beach LATMS Report proposed the downgrading of Memorial Ave between Maitland Bay Drive and Bourke Rd to the status of a "local road".

The purpose of this was to reflect the improved vehicular access to Barrenjoey Rd via the Bourke Rd roundabout and the improved traffic conditions at the upgraded intersection of Memorial Ave and Maitland Bay Drive.

As a result, the report proposed a change of priority at the Memorial Ave and Bourke Rd intersection to complement the modified road hierarchy, brought about by the changed traffic patterns in the local area.
