Emergency services play touch football

An inaugural emergency services touch football event, the Central Coast Triple O Cup, was held at Woy Woy Oval on September 26 to raise money for the Central Coast Children's Burns Equipment Fund.

The event was organised by Umina Fire Station firefighter, Mr Bill Maclean.

Peninsula and non-Peninsula firefighters, ambulance officers, and police as well as former Parramatta first-grade rugby league players competed for the Triple O Cup, the Don Rogers Memorial Trophy for second place, and the Umina Fire Station Shield, for third place.

Mark Laurie, Brett Kenny, Steve Ella, Terry Leadbeater, David Liddiard, Paul Mares and Rod Maybon were among the former Parramatta players.

Commissioner of the NSW Fire Bridages, Mr Greg Mullins, said that the charity event would raise money for the burns equipment fund that was set up by the Brigades and NSW Health for Gosford Hospital, Wyong Hospital, and Child Flight.

Child Flight is an intensive care helicopter transportation service for children in NSW and the ACT.

A sports memorabilia auction was held at the event.

The items auctioned, signed by their associated sporting figures, included Kostya Tszyu boxing gloves, a NSW Waratahs jersey, a Sydney Kings basketball, and a fire helmet signed by the former Parramatta rugby league players.
