Bowls nights 'glorious'
The Woy Woy Mens Bowling Clubs Night Maestro Triples Tournament concluded after what was described as "eight glorious nights of quality bowls".
The event carried $4800 in prize money and 64 teams competed.
Tournament director Paul Smith was delighted with both the weather and the acceptance of all teams for their understanding of the difficulties presented while the club is under going extensions.
Semi-finals were played on March 7, with wins to Ron Sainty from Ettalong Beach Bowling Clubs composite team, Justin Kinross also from Ettalong and Brian White a member of Everglades Country Club.
The other semi-final was won by Barry Jones from Ramsgate R.S.Ls composite team, which consisted of Micheal Zanarrdo, from St George Bowling Club and Richard Kerr from Roseland's Bowling Club.
The final played on Friday, March 9, kept the large crowd of interested spectators on their toes.
Barry Jones' side edged away to a 21-13 win over Ron Saintys local Peninsula team.
The consolation tournament provided for all first round losers.
It was won by Steve Farrelly, Ron Menier and Rob Lowe, all from Wamberal Bowling Club.
The team defeated Laurie Powell, Frank Pengelly and Barry OConnor all from Everglades Bowling Club.
The score was 23-21.
The club four championships were recently concluded, after a number of entries were received.
The semi-finals resulted in a win to the team of Bruce Lobb, Jim Cook, Neil Williams and Jamie Cook.
The final resulted in a win to Neal Jeffersons team 28-8 over Jamie Cooks side.
Mufti bowls are played on both Sunday and Wednesday mornings at 9am.
