Theatre tender is let

The tender for the construction of the new Peninsula Community Centre and Theatre has been let.

Gosford Council has decided to accept the tender of North Construction and Building Pty Ltd and to increase the project's budget by $362,376.

Expressions of interest were received from 18 companies and were analysed by Mr Don Neill of Andrews Neill Architects, which had previously been appointed project manager.

Six of the companies were invited to tender.

The council was told that the architect reported he was satisfied with the documentation submitted by Norths and that "the final lump sum tender amount affords Council value for money".

"The architect has indicated that the project budget, as amended, will be sufficient to complete the project, given current knowledge and expectations."

The council decided to allocate the extra $362,376 from the $3.8 million previously allocated to sporting facilities from its Financial Strategy surplus "unless other funds can be identified".
