Mega Fun Day held

Woy Woy Public School held its Mega Fun Day on March 29.

The day was organised by teacher Martine Lang, and children from years five and six, to raise money for their school camps.

Year five students will have to pay about $170 to go to Milson Island, while year six students will need $200 to go to Canberra.

The children from every class in both years were brought together and organised into groups.

Each group of children then decided which stall they would like to run.

The year six students who were involved in the organisation of Mega Fun Day last year helped the year five students.

The children worked together in allocated times to design and create posters and signs for their stall and to develop the activity they were to host.

All the school’s students were able to participate in the activities and purchase goodies from the cake stall by purchasing tokens.

Children were able to bring in money and purchase tokens on the day and prior to it.

The class teachers then held these until Mega Fun Day when they were issued to the children.

Teacher Mr McGrath said the money raised from the day would reduce the cost to students by about $10.

"By organising and conducting the Mega Fun Day, students learn valuable fund-raising skills.

"It also teaches them the value of money."

The children ran a number of stalls including a Chocolate Wheel, Pick-a-Number, Knock-em-Down, Sponge Throwing, Footy Passing, Putt Putt Golf, Buried Treasure, Paddle-Pop sticks, Tennis Ball in the Bin, Face Painting and Coloured Hairspray.

All stall prizes were donated by a number of sponsors including Cambell's Hardware, Baker’s Delight, Go Vita Health Food Store and the NRL.

The children running the stores did so in shifts so they could take turns to join in other activities.
